Of all my books, none have proven more popular – yet cost me more in terms of time and effort – than Daily Prayer 1 and 2. Still today I regularly receive letters and emails from appreciative readers, all of which serves to make those long hours of writing seem more than worth it. Sadly though, from a personal level, despite numerous requests to write a follow-up after the publication of the first book, relatively few people seem to have purchased the second. Whether they realise it comprises all new material, or even that it’s a different book to Daily Prayer 1, I’m not sure, but I hope in time more readers will discover it.

A personal favourite of mine is the book A Calendar of Classic Prayer, which features a prayer for each day from the annals of history, sometimes drawn from different religious traditions, each with my own introduction, giving something of the background to and meaning of the prayer.

I’ve written two other daily devotionals. First, there is The Animal Lover’s Daily Prayer Book, the story of which you can read here. Then there’s Daily Reflections, which as well as a brief reading and prayer for each day, offers one of my many meditations to ponder, inviting you to enter into the world of the Bible and put yourself in the shoes of the main character as they reflect on the challenge Jesus presents to them.
