A NEW DAY DAWNING: PERSONAL MEDITATIONS FOR ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS

A New Day Dawning

Drawing and enlarging upon material from No Ordinary Man, A New Light Shining explores the events associated with the birth of Jesus and asks what those mean for us today. The aim is to stimulate reflection and to help the reader enter into events in such a way that they become as alive and immediate for them as for those who witnessed first-hand the stable, the manger and the coming of Christ among us.

DAILY ADVENT REFLECTIONS

Daily Advent Reflections

For those who want to reflect more deeply on the significance of God’s coming in Christ, this book offers 40 short but meaningful acts of devotion with readings, reflections and prayers to challenge, encourage, nurture and inspire. It affords the reader the perfect way of committing the seasons of Advent and Christmas prayerfully to God.

Lent

DAILY LENT REFLECTIONS

To deepen our devotional life we need a focus for our thoughts, spiritual food to nurture our faith and discipleship. Daily Lent Reflections makes more accessible the spiritual sustenance already offered by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. For each of the 40 days of Lent, there are readings, reflections, prayers and points to ponder on themes such as forgiving others, doing that little bit extra in God’s service, choosing the way of the kingdom instead of the often-enticing ‘way of the world’, seeking God’s will rather than our own, valuing and respecting others. How do we work out such ideas in terms of daily life? What are their implications for us today? This book sets out to answer such questions, bringing home the challenge, promise, encouragement and inspiration implicit within the teaching of Jesus.

Lent, Holy Week and Easter

A NEW LIGHT SHINING: PERSONAL MEDITATIONS FOR LENT, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER

 A New Light Shining

Drawing and enlarging upon material from No Ordinary Man, A New Light Shining looks at the challenges that faced Jesus and the challenges he brings to us. The aim is to stimulate reflection and to help the reader enter into events in such a way that they become as alive and immediate for them as for those who witnessed first-hand the life, death and resurrection of Christ.

Christian Year

SELECTED REFLECTIONS FOR THE CHRISTIAN YEAR

Selected Reflections for the Christian Year

How do you celebrate the Christian seasons? Do you approach them each year determined that they will shape your daily devotions, only for them somehow to pass you by? In this book, drawing on some of his most popular writings, Nick Fawcett offers nearly 200 reflections on classic verses of Scripture, each helping to bring home the meaning of the key dates of the Christian calendar and relating those to daily life. Here is a resource to bring the Christian seasons to life for you as never before.

Prayerful reflections

ARE YOU LISTENING? HONEST PRAYERS ABOUT LIFE

Are You Listening

Taking the form of a dialogue with God, prayers look at the many aspects of human experience and emotion, providing inspiration to those who desire a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God. This book – which probably more than any other reflects the huge impact Michel Quoist’s classic book Prayers of Life had upon me as a young man – is still one of my personal favourites among the many books I’ve written. If you haven’t read it, it would mean so much to me if you did.

HOW TO PRAY

How to Pray

Prayer, we are taught, is the heartbeat of Christian discipleship, yet many find it so difficult that it becomes a burden instead of blessing. Why does that happen and how can we avoid it? Writing as one who has struggled with prayer as much as anyone, Nick Fawcett tackles such questions in How to Pray and suggests a host of ways to answer them.

THE TEACHER: A SIMPLE GUIDE TO DAILY LIFE

The Teacher

Speaking to people of all faiths and none, this is a book you will want to return to again and again. Drawing on ancient wisdom literature and, specifically, the words of the Teacher, Nick Fawcett invites the reader to join him in a search for insight into the ups and downs, joys and sorrows, of daily life.

You’re probably tired of hearing me say it, but this is the book I enjoyed writing more than any other, and that I poured myself into, heart and soul. Sales would suggest that people don’t share my enthusiasm, these having been disappointingly slow. Whether that’s down to the high initial price or the content, I’m not sure, but if you haven’t considered buying and reading this, I would ask, simply, please do.

R.S.V.P.: AN INVITATION TO A NEW LIFE

R.S.V.P..jpg

R.S.V.P. is a booklet for clergy, missioners and evangelists to hand to those who are looking for a straightforward explanation of the key issues of Christianity. It aims to capture something of the simplicity of Christ’s call to follow him: to get back to essentials about the nature of God, his dealings with humankind and the response his love deserves.
