Here’s another prayer today that demonstrates the immense spiritual riches of Judaism. On one level, it’s poetry; on another, a declaration of faith; on another still, an expression of praise and thanksgiving; but perhaps above all it’s a heartfelt outpouring of love. Deriving from the Hasidic tradition that originated in Eastern Europe in the eighteenth century, here are words through which we too can celebrate God’s faithfulness, power and constant presence. come what may.
Wherever I go, only thou!
Wherever I stand, only thou!
Just thou!
Again thou!
Always thou!
Thou, thou, thou!
When things are good, thou!
When things are bad, thou!
Thou, thou, thou!
It reminds me of Celtic prayer in its form.
