How well do you think you know your Bible? Well, this is a chance for you to see, in the first of what I plan to be a regular quiz spot. Each of the following passages of Scripture has a mistake in it: a wrong word. Can you spot what it is? Answers in a couple of days time. The quiz is taken from my book Who Knows?, published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd in 2008.
1. ‘. . . wise men from the East came to Bethlehem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews?”’
2. ‘Consider the lilies of the field . . . even David in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.’
3. ‘As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Simon sitting at the tax booth.’
4. ‘Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for food, for they will be filled.’
5. ‘. . . it is easier for a horse to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.’
6. ‘Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his neck, and he ate locusts and wild honey.’
7. ‘. . . before the cock crows twice, you will deny me ten times.’
8. ‘In those days a decree went out from Emperor Tiberius that all the world should be registered.’
9. ‘. . . the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Jerusalem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.”’
10. ‘He stood up to read and the scroll of the prophet Ezekiel was given to him.’
