Not great news from the consultant last week. My myeloma is starting to really mushroom, the medication I’ve been on over the past year no longer proving effective, so I need to start on a new drug soon. Options, though, are running out much faster than we anticipated. The best seems to be one currently being offered to the NHS on compassionate grounds for a limited time only, but, due to the severe effects this can have upon the eyes, it needs the hospital ophthalmology department to approve my going on it and to monitor me throughout the course of treatment, however long that may last. Unfortunately, given the intense pressures on the health service at the moment, there’s a very good chance they may say no to that.
Please remember my wife Deborah, son Samuel, and daughter Kate, at this time, together with the extended family, for whom this is such a worrying time.
So sorry to hear this news, Nick. Keeping you, Deborah, Samuel and Kate in my thoughts and prayers.
Praying for you and the family
