Meanwhile, here’s the fifth of seven poetic reflections from the book that I’ll be posting this week to run alongside this promotion, this one focusing on the plight of the poor and needy of this world.
In the poor and broken
In the poor and broken,
may we see your face;
consciences awoken
by their wretched case.
In the sick and hungry,
may we hear your call.
May we see your presence
in the plight of all.
In the sad and lonely,
may we see you there.
Help us show commitment
through the way we care.
In our sisters, brothers,
may we feel your touch.
Help us give to others –
we who have so much.
In our love and caring
help us, God, to see,
here is true religion:
what you’d have us be.
