I learnt from my consultant this morning that, essentially, the myeloma treatment I’ve been on for the past five years has stopped working (which probably partly explains why I’ve felt so unwell recently, despite my pneumocystis having been treated). I thus need to go on to a new drug as soon as possible, probably within the next couple of weeks. Problematically, I need to choose between one of two options, both of which have their pros and cons, and both of which mean losing the chance to go on the other drug/s at a later date (that’s the way the NHS protocol works). It’s a tough decision. Neither option is likely to work half as well as the one I’ve just been on, but you never know. I’d value your thoughts and prayers as I research the two options more carefully and come to a decision by Thursday.
Keeping you in my prayers.
Thank you so much Martin. I value your support.
Nick, really sorry to hear the news about your medication. Choosing our next course of action is a really difficult decision and my prayers are with you as you make it. You asked for thoughts so for what it’s worth can I share what we try to do when faced with a big decision. We write down pros and cons for each option so we can see it clearly and give it a lot of thought and prayer. Usually a solution emerges but we always agree that we have made the decision based on evidence available at the time so we don’t look back in the future and say we shouldn’t have done that. It has helped give us peace of mind as we have moved forward. I really hope that whatever you decide works for you and that your health does begin to improve.
