It was such a lovely evening yesterday that I wrote a poem while out walking (my Keats’ moment 😊). There’s nothing overtly religious or Christian about it, but it’s a celebration of nature and the beauty of the God-given world around us, so I thought you might perhaps enjoy it.
Dawn chorus
Upon its perch, high in the trees,
the blackbird’s song soars on the breeze,
its notes so sweet they can’t but please
and set my restless soul at ease.
And in the woods a song thrush calls –
its cadence rises now, then falls –
a tune that captivates, enthrals –
enchantment this that never palls.
Imbibe the joy that morning brings,
as all around the chorus sings,
the music rising, taking wings –
the essence of most precious things.
From every bush, the music sounds;
my spirit leaps, my heart, it pounds;
and as the symphony resounds,
I’m filled with joy that knows no bounds.
