As we look forward to the year ahead, what hopes do we have for it, what plans are we making? It’s good to set ourselves goals, but, as the following prayer from The Animal Lover’s Daily Prayer Book, first published in The Little Book of Wild Animal Prayers, reminds us, we need always to remember that our wishes and God’s may not always coincide.  Will we continue to trust in God future – to keep faith that he is guiding us, even though it doesn’t always feel like it?

Remind me, Lord, that whatever moves I make,
however carefully I plan,
I don’t have all the answers.
Help me to live wisely in the present
and to trust finally in your future.
Amen.
