Here’s a short and simple prayer with a big message. Taken from The Little Book of Easter Prayers, it reminds us that ours is a God who seeks to set us free not just from death, through the resurrection of Christ, but from everything that denies and devalues life – from so much that prevents us and countless others from living as fully as we should.
As you broke the chains of death, Lord,
break also the shackles that bind our world today.
Set us free from all that holds us captive:
the greed, hatred, fear and evil
that so easily enslave,
denying the life you long to bring.
Amen.
