Here’s another new coronavirus prayer, to help support and encourage you in these challenging times.
Lord,
restrictions are being lifted,
social distancing rules eased,
people being allowed again to enjoy their freedom,
and we welcome such developments
with the prospects they offer of a return to normality.
Yet many also are uncertain,
confused,
even troubled,
not quite sure what is allowed and what isn’t,
still less convinced about what has caused the change of heart.
Some can’t help fearing that public safety is not the only factor at play;
that economic considerations and pressures may be driving the agenda,
potentially putting individual’s welfare at risk –
a surge of infections and deaths from a second spike of this pandemic,
which could and should be avoided.
We do not have all the answers,
any more than anyone else does.
We do not know the correct way forward,
and we understand that there is an element of uncertainty in every decision.
But save us from being led,
knowingly or unknowingly,
into a dangerous gamble in which the stakes are far too high,
and the possible losses much too real.
Give wisdom and guidance to those who will take decisions,
and help them to get them right,
for us all.
