Here’s another new coronavirus prayer, to help support and encourage you during the continuing crisis.
Lord,
you know that this time isn’t easy for any of us –
this social distancing,
self-isolating,
cutting ourselves off from others,
even our nearest and dearest.
But we can forget sometimes that it’s harder for some than others,
hardest of all, perhaps, for those living with a terminal diagnosis
or an incurable disease,
because these weeks and months of lockdown may be the only ones they have left,
the only time remaining to them.
While others can afford to wait –
frustrated, certainly,
understandably impatient for life to return to normal –
many of the former have no such luxury,
for that brighter future may not come in time,
nirvana remaining ever out of reach.
Reach out to all, Lord, facing such a situation –
all for whom their last hurrah may prove significantly less than it ought to be,
a damp squib instead of fulfilling finale.
Grant that their treatment may continue as effectively as possible,
and that they may defy the odds,
their health and life expectancy far exceeding all expectations.
And if the worst should come to the worst,
grant them and their loved ones comfort,
strength,
hope,
joy,
and peace at the last.
Amen.
