Peace be with you

Here’s a little prayer I wrote last week on the theme of God’s peace: that peace offered to us all that truly defies human comprehension. Open your heart to that most precious of gifts, and make it yours.

Peace of the verdant trees be yours;
peace of the shimmering ocean be yours;
peace of the lush meadow be yours;
peace of the scudding clouds be yours;
peace of the bubbling brook be yours;
peace of the dawn chorus be yours;
peace of the fragrant rose be yours;
peace of the rolling hills be yours;
peace of the autumn berries be yours;
peace of the sleeping baby be yours;
peace of the lazy river be yours;
peace of the crimson sunset be yours;
peace of the gentle shower be yours;
peace of the full moon be yours;
peace of the silent stars be yours;
peace of the falling snow be yours;
peace of the dormant seed be yours;
peace of the soaring gull be yours.
May peace fill your heart,
your mind
your soul,
your being –
peace that passes all understanding.
Amen.
