Prayers for All Seasons 2 was one of my earliest books, published back in 2001 following the huge success of Prayers for All Seasons 1, still one of my best-selling publications. Like the latter, it covers a huge range of themes, ranging from the Christian year (Advent, Christmas. Lent, Holy Week, Easter and so forth); special events in the Church calendar, such as Mothering Sunday, Christian Aid Week, Harvest Festival, One World Week, Remembrance Day, Church Anniversaries, and many others; wedding and funeral material; plus more general prayers of approach, praise, confession, thanksgiving and intercession; together with a number of blessings and material for the Lord’s Supper. All told, then, it offers a comprehensive resource for the busy vicar, curate, minister or worship leader. Throughout, the emphasis is on maintaining a sense of awe and reverence in the presence of God, while using contemporary language that speaks both to those in the Church today and beyond.

Praise
Acknowledging God’s greatness
Almighty God,
ruler over heaven and earth,
Lord of space and time,
creator of all that is and was and shall be,
Alpha and Omega,
we worship you.
Hear our prayer,
and receive our praise.
Everlasting God,
all good,
all truth,
all love,
all mercy,
we honour you.
Hear our prayer,
and receive our praise.
Sovereign God,
stronger than we can ever comprehend,
greater than we can ever imagine,
wiser than we can ever understand,
kinder than we can ever dream,
we acclaim you.
Hear our prayer,
and receive our praise.
Gracious God,
always helping,
always caring,
always renewing,
always blessing,
we thank you.
Hear our prayer,
and receive our praise.
Living God,
with joy and thankfulness,
awe and wonder,
devotion and dedication,
commitment and faith,
we acknowledge you.
Hear our prayer,
and receive our praise.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
